Paper Charts vs. EMR
Consider that a filing cabinet with a 1,000 chart capacity costs over $6,000, medical office lease expense of $30 to $45 per square foot, administrative staff cost of $25,000 to $45,000 per year, paper, file jackets, document copier, messenger and postage expense, not to mention the hidden costs of injuries and lost time due to lifting, pushing, etc. Add it up, you are paying $5 to $8 per year per chart! Our software suite will eliminate the majority of this expense. In fact, per chart cost is cut to $1 to $2 per year. There are additional benefits to EMR as well:
- Your data is available to the provider anywhere, real time. If you make house calls, hospital rounds, receive patient calls, or just like to review or complete your work at home, your office is just a click away.
- You always have a backup of your charts. Paper files can be misfiled, lost, stolen, or be destroyed by natural disaster. Your electronic files are securely stored, with real time copies in multiple locations. Should anything extraordinary happen at one location, you won't even loose a minute of data, because the backup copy is already online.
- In an office visit, your patient's current prescriptions, chronic problems, insurance company guidelines, and the billable ICD-9 and CPT codes are all at your finger tip.
- Superbill is a thing of the past. Your chart, containing all the correct and billable ICD-9, CPT and E&M codes are ready for your staff to generate a complete invoice for co-payment and insurance filing. You will miss seeing your biller outside your exam room waiting to verify billing codes every time you enter the hallway.
